Fret Not

Here's exactly what happens to your guitar.

You describe the problem, I quote it in writing, and the weekly route brings your instrument to the bench and back.

From first message to first chord.

Six clear steps, from the first description you send to the day your instrument is back in your hands.

Start your repair
  1. Tell me what's going on

Start a repair request. Plain words are fine: 'buzzing past the 7th fret', 'crackles when I turn the volume knob'. Photos help if you have them.

  2. Get a ballpark

I reply by email with a first read and a likely price range, so you know what to expect before anything moves.

  3. Hand it over

Pickup and delivery run on a weekly route within 15 km of Islington Station, or you can drop off by arrangement. Intake is pickup or drop-off; there's no mail-in. Your instrument stays in careful hands door to door.

  4. A firm quote from the bench

Once it's here, I go over the whole instrument and confirm the scope and the price in writing. Nothing gets worked on until you say yes.

  5. Careful work, one pair of hands

The person who quoted it does the work. Most common jobs take 3 to 5 business days on the bench after approval.

  6. Delivered back, guaranteed for 60 days

It returns on the route, or you collect it. Play it. If something's not right, it goes back on the bench, covered by the 60-day workmanship guarantee.

Pickup & delivery

No storefront. I bring the bench to you.

Fret Not runs from a home workshop, not a walk-in shop. Once a week I plan a single pickup and delivery route around the jobs that are ready. It keeps costs down and puts the time into the work instead of the counter.

Prefer to hand it over yourself? Drop-off by arrangement works too. Just say so in your request.

Distances are measured from Islington Station.

Zone Distance Pickup & delivery
Zone 1 0-5 km Included
Zone 2 5-10 km +$20 travel fee
Zone 3 10-15 km +$35 travel fee

Travel fees are charged once per pickup and return cycle, not per instrument.

Larger jobs, multiple instruments, school accounts, and route-efficient pickups may qualify for reduced or waived travel fees.

Bench time vs door to door.

Most common work (setups, restrings, basic care, simple electronics) targets 3 to 5 business days on the bench after the instrument arrives and you've approved the quote. Fretwork, structural repairs, and custom jobs take longer and are quoted individually. Door-to-door time depends on where pickup and delivery land on the weekly route, so your quote always includes the full picture.

In a hurry? Some jobs can be rushed after review. See rush options on the services page.

The 60-day workmanship warranty.

Every job is covered for 60 days. If something connected to the work doesn't feel right, get in touch and I'll make it right. The warranty covers workmanship, not new damage, environmental movement, unrelated failures, or work done elsewhere.

The punch card

Setups on repeat? The fifth one's free.

Every setup earns a punch, tracked with your name. No app, no card to lose. The free setup covers up to the value of a basic one.

Your card starts empty. Four punches, then the fifth is free.
