Guitar Repair in Mimico, New Toronto & Long Branch

Flat-rate guitar setups, restringing, and repairs with convenient weekly route pickup in South Etobicoke.

Why Fret Not Works Well Here

Lakeshore residents in Mimico, New Toronto, and Long Branch enjoy beautiful waterfront living, but they face a notable distance barrier when it comes to guitar repair. The major musical instrument retailers and independent repair counters are located far to the east or north, requiring a tedious drive along the Gardiner Expressway or Queensway just to drop off a guitar, and another long trip to retrieve it.

Based near Islington Station, Fret Not is physically close to South Etobicoke. Our weekly route travels down to the Lakeshore corridor, providing a simple, local doorstep pickup and return service. You get a professionally set up or repaired instrument without ever having to leave your neighborhood.

Service Coverage and Logistics

Our weekly route serves the entire South Etobicoke Lakeshore corridor regularly:

  • Mimico (0-5 km from Islington Station): Located in Zone 1, which has no travel surcharge. Pickup and delivery are fully included in the repair service.
  • New Toronto and Long Branch (5-10 km from Islington Station): Located in Zone 2, which has a flat $20 travel surcharge per pickup/return cycle.

This flat fee covers the entire trip (both pickup and delivery), and is charged per round-trip cycle, not per instrument. Larger jobs or multiple instruments may qualify for a waived travel fee.

Who This Is For

This service is a perfect fit for:

  • Families & Music Students: Keeping practice guitars, basses, or ukuleles playable and comfortable for weekly lessons.
  • Adult Hobbyists & Home Players: Musicians who want their acoustic or electric guitars set up properly for home recording or casual playing.
  • Local Music Instructors: Teachers who need their instruments or their students’ instruments serviced quickly without losing personal time.

Local Music Context

We support the active music education and lesson communities along the Lakeshore, including families attending:

  • Sherway Academy of Music (serving Alderwood, Long Branch, New Toronto, and Mimico, and home to the Toronto Rock School).
  • Mimico Piano Lessons and private instruction studios near Humber Bay.
  • Etobicoke Suzuki Music programs for stringed instruments.

For students starting out, a guitar with stiff action (strings too high) is the number one reason they give up. A proper setup lowers the strings to an optimal height, making the instrument much easier and more comfortable to play.

Common Services

  • Setup & Intonation: Correcting high action, fret buzz, and tuning problems on acoustic and electric guitars.
  • Restring & Fret Polish: Clean fretboard, polish frets, and install fresh strings.
  • Tuner Upgrades: Installing replacement tuning machines for better tuning stability.
  • Electronics Repairs: Diagnosing and fixing crackling jacks, weak signals, and hum.
